Sadhguru - the data in your mind is created from exposure

What kind of mind u have right now - if u look at it carefully - is very much the kind of mind which has known a certain type of exposure. If u were born in a remote part of Africa, for eg, u would be thinking and feeling completely differently.

So what ur mind is of right now, the content of ur mind - is just the data that u have fed into it. It is ur exposure to life. It is just that most of it went in unconsciously. A little bit of it went in consciously, but most of it went into ur mind unconsciously.

No wonder everyone so different.  First time it hit me, just as I believed that my reactions to situations is dependent on my life experience, now perhaps that's the same with the mind.

Everything that u see, u hear, u smell, taste and touch, goes into ur mind and becomes a certain content.
Depending on what type of input went in, ur mind develops certain tendencies accordingly.
So the mind need not listen to u. The mind is just a bank of information.
If u are conscious, u would use it to ur benefit. If u are unconscious, u are using it to ur detriment.

Now the problem is that it is simply playing whatever u recorded, whether you like it or not.

If u are truly intelligent, u should not be doing what people expect, u should just be doing what is best for urself and everybody around u even if it at the cost of being unpopular.
